  We had a horrible experience with Putnam Mechanical. We wanted a Ruud system to replace the system that failed in the home we bought. Once installed it took over a year for us to give up on Putnam and pay another company to resolve the issues caused by the inferior installation by Putnam Mechanical.
  During the first few months we were told they were very busy and we should be happy we had A/C at all. Once we got past the rude receptionist who seem to be screening calls for people who trusted Putnam to provide service, we had several Putnam "service managers" come out. Unfortunately the one service manager who was actually making a difference past away last year. He shared with us many of the short cuts and cost savings Putnam used which were clearly not in our best interest. Much of our existing duct work was used, which was in very bad shape. It is important to point out we paid to have a new system installed and to have all of the duct checked and replaced as needed, very clearly printed in the contract. The plenum from our old system was taped together and reused, ducts were left pinched where the cool air would be restricted. The list is long so I will spare you.
  The final straw came when their most current "service manager" said our house had too many lights and switches, thus the A/C will never keep up with the heat during hot months. Please understand I made it clear from day one that if it were well over 100 degrees outside I should still be able to work in 72 degrees inside our home, which is where we both work.
  It is unfortunate we trusted Putnam based on the product brand. I wish I had a better experience to share, and I wish we got the service we paid for. I will consider a RUUD system again if this one holds up but I am sure Putnam won't be installing it. After talking to other people who have used Putnam it is surprising they are able to stay in business, but I guess they rely on the RUUD name and pray on people who don't check reviews. I looked for info on RUUD but choose the closest RUUD dealer instead of looking for the best installer and discussing options they would suggest.
